I’ve worked in just about every corner of education — teacher, principal, central office, superintendent. But the heart of it goes back to being 17, sitting in senior English, realizing I’d be stuck for months in a class that wasn’t going to ask anything real of me — and wouldn’t touch the best parts of who I was. And I made some kind of decision that if I could I would change that for other students.
That particular moment passed. Though I've recalled and shared that story many times, it took some time for me to realize how deeply the experience must have reached me. The decision to make the educational experience fundamentally much better for students has truly has shaped every one of my career decisions, including the decision to leave education and do something completely different, start a business.
Not long ago I sold the business and started Prometheate because I still feel that pull — to build something better for students. Something that develops self-direction, creativity, collaboration, and the ability to make meaningful decisions. I think AI is opening the door to fundamental and needed shifts in the big picture of School. And I'm excited!
If that resonates, let’s stay connected.
