Deeper Learning 2025

Friends from Blue Dot Education and Calipatria High School Principal Lucio Padilla Jr. have sparked a movement—hosting Community Astronomy Nights that consistently draw over 400 attendees and bring together families, students, and educators across multiple school and districts. What began as a night of stargazing has evolved into a powerful Share Your Learning experience that centers student voice and cross-school collaboration.
This session will feature Calipatria High School students and will provide you with the opportunity to unpack the key design elements that made these nights meaningful, inclusive, and scalable. Then, using the provided tools, resources, and inspiration from their journey, you’ll begin designing your own community-connected event to bring back to your school. Whether you're starting small or dreaming big, you’ll leave with ideas to build deeper learning through curiosity, connection, and community.  
In addition to resources being provided, student astrophotography projects will be given away at the session.
