I’m Devika, and I work at FULCRUM supporting the implementation of structured literacy practices by helping educators and leaders build their knowledge, skills, and systems to improve reading outcomes. Before this, I spent 15 years in education as a teacher, school leader, and systems leader, leading an Oakland charter network’s shift to the science of reading. People should talk to me about structured literacy implementation, professional learning, and building leadership capacity—particularly how to move from vision to practice in schools. I love discussing how to support teachers in building their knowledge and skills in SOR and how leaders can create the enabling conditions to sustain the change effort. Outside of work, you can find me biking, hiking, or behind a camera—I love any excuse to be outdoors in nature.
