This is my 4th year as a full time teacher.

I was inspired to become a teacher by the punk rock music that I listen to and my experience as a coach at High Tech High.

I currently teach 8th grade math/science at High Tech Middle in Point Loma and have taught in a variety of settings from a continuation high school to a college prep charter school. I really like the freedom that I have as a teacher at High Tech and the fact that I am able to teach through my passions.This really helps me and my students stay engaged in our projects.

These two aspects of my life highly influence my teaching approach.

Prior to being a teacher, I served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years followed by 6 years as civilian working as a biomechanics research assistant at Naval Health Research Center in San Diego.
