Sara Schairer brings a combination of warmth, wisdom, and practical tools to her work as a facilitator, leadership coach, and consultant. Through her coaching and facilitation, she supports leaders in strengthening team cohesion, engaging in difficult conversations, and preventing burnout.
As the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Compassion It, Sara has designed and led transformative programs on communication, boundary-setting, emotional intelligence, compassionate systems, empathy, self-compassion, and mindfulness. With over a decade of experience working with global audiences across both private and public sectors, she helps teams and individuals thrive.
Sara is an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University, where she teaches The Science and Practice of Mindfulness and Compassion, and she also facilitates courses at UCSD’s Center for Mindfulness. She is the author of A Case for Compassion: What Happens When We Prioritize People and the Planet and a contributing author to The Neuroscience of Learning and Development: Enhancing Creativity, Compassion, Critical Thinking, and Peace in Education.
Committed to creating compassionate systems, Sara believes that when organizations invest in well-being and center humanity, they thrive—both internally and in service to their communities.
Outside of work, you’ll find Sara exploring with her daughter, enjoying quality time with her partner, friends, and dogs (Norman and Obi-Wan), or jogging along the boardwalk. She has a passion for high-quality coffee and thought-provoking podcasts.
