About me
I’m the Chief Program Officer of Envision Education, a Bay Area network of public charter schools with a national footprint through our consulting arm, Envision Learning Partners (ELP). In my role, I support both our schools and our partners across the country to design and implement performance assessment systems—capstones, portfolios, and public defenses—that center authentic demonstrations of learning and student voice.
My career began in the classroom as a high school English teacher and project-based learning coach, and I later served as associate research director at the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity (SCALE). I’m also a co-author of Transforming Schools with Common Core Standards, Performance Assessment, and Project-Based Learning.
I believe that what we choose to count as evidence of learning says everything about what we value—and that performance assessment is one of the most powerful tools we have for advancing justice and deeper learning in schools.
