This deep dive addresses the problematic relationship students and teachers often have with STEM education, rooted in unaddressed trauma. It focuses on how white supremacy culture shapes STEM and impacts individuals' sense of belonging in STEM. Participants will explore ELP's HQPA principles to design STEM assessments that promote healing. Through dialogue, journaling, and personal timelines, participants will examine STEM trauma and develop strategies to disrupt it in their lives and work. By the end, participants will have tools to address and prevent STEM trauma transference in their classrooms and assessments. The workshop is split into two sections: naming and releasing trauma, and designing with critical hope.
